16-3: The Number That Defines Carolina's Dynasty Starter

The Hurricanes' playoff record ties for one of the most dominant Cup runs in modern history.

The Kid pulled up the final numbers and it's worth pausing on: Carolina finished the 2026 playoffs 16-3.

That's one of the most dominant Cup runs in the modern era. They went 12-1 through three rounds before Vegas made them work in the Final. And even then — even with the Game 3 collapse where they blew a 4-0 lead — they won the series in six.

Staal won the Conn Smythe at 37. Bussi won three straight starts in his playoff debut. The whole thing had a feeling of inevitability that the individual games kept trying to disrupt.

Vegas took them to double overtime in Game 3. Carolina responded with three straight wins to close it.

16-3. That's a team that knew what it was. That's a team that didn't flinch when things got difficult. And now they've got a core that could run this back.

File this one for October: the Hurricanes are going to open as favorites to repeat.
