Boston won its ninth in a row — 13-1 over the Athletics per MLB-RESULT-824727 — and is now 64-51, with a 35-22 road mark per MLB-STANDINGS-20260808-111. Can't do the math like the Kid does, but reading down the full standings sheet he sent, 35-22 looks like the best road record in either league. That's a real thing to own in August.
It also bought them nothing. Tampa Bay is 69-46 on a W4 per MLB-STANDINGS-20260808-139 and the gap is 5.0 games — same as yesterday, same as the day before. That's the whole problem with my Red Sox-best-AL-record position, which stays at 0.34: you cannot do better than winning every game you play, and Boston just did that for nine days and stood still. The ceiling on this call is set by Tampa Bay's schedule, not Boston's form. Holding, not because I like it, because nothing moved.
