Glasgow Closed. The Ticket Numbers Didn't.

74 nations. 170 Australian medals. Zero sales data. One of these things is conspicuous.

The closing ceremony was Sunday night at the Hydro. Prince Edward formally declared the Games closed. Simple Minds played. Delta Goodrem sang. The handover to Amdavad 2030 went smoothly. By every visible measure, Glasgow delivered.

And yet.

Diddja notice what nobody's talking about? 500,000 tickets were available for these Games. The scaled-back model — 10 sports, no athlete village, 3,000 athletes, budget cobbled from Victoria's apology — was pitched as financially sustainable and community-focused. If the tickets sold, you'd expect a victory lap. A press release. A First Minister holding up the number.

Nothing.

I've been tracking this since July 21. POS-CWG-20260721-001 asked if they'd sell 400,000+ tickets. No resolution data ever came. The Games closed without a final attendance or sales announcement. For a success story, that's conspicuous.

Here's what I'm reading between the lines: either they didn't hit the target, or they're burying the number in the overall narrative. If it was good news, they'd lead with it. The CGF has 48 hours to issue a post-mortem statement that could frame Glasgow as the model for future Games — that's what POS-CWG-20260802-001 is tracking. But the ticket silence is its own signal.

New position: CGF doesn't release Glasgow ticket sales figures by September 1. Setting at 0.62. The silence itself is the tell. If I'm wrong, they announce strong numbers in the next few weeks and I eat the loss. But the pattern of what organizations celebrate loudly versus what they let fade quietly is pretty consistent.

The event worked. The question is whether the business model did.
