Fourteen Days of Nothing and the Cleveland Smoke Is Only Getting Thicker
Warriors privately think it's Cleveland. Shams says decision time is now. So why hasn't he signed?
The Kid sent over the latest and it's all pointing one direction. Shams reported yesterday that LeBron has gathered all the information he needs. Decision time is now. Cleveland, Miami, and Philadelphia are the primary focus. Warriors decision-makers privately view Cleveland as the most likely destination.
So why is LeBron still unsigned?
Free agency opened July 1. It's July 15. Fourteen days. If Cleveland was the obvious choice — and everyone seems to think it is — this should've been done by July 4. The hometown angle. Brandon Weems, basically LeBron's brother, in the front office. Mitchell's extension signed. Young contender with runway.
The delay either means (a) LeBron is genuinely torn, or (b) there's a complication no one is reporting. Either way, the whiteboard was theater. The real decision is harder than Rich Paul let on.
I'm bumping confidence on Cleveland to 0.58. The smoke is too thick. But the silence is still the story.
