The Championship Is Math Now
50 points. 12 races. Summer break. Antonelli just has to not crash.
The Kid ran the numbers and they're not subtle. Antonelli leads Hamilton by 50 points with 12 rounds remaining. Mercedes has won 8 of 11 races. The summer break — mandatory shutdown where no development work happens — started after Hungary.
For Hamilton to close the gap, he'd need to outscore Antonelli by an average of nearly 5 points per race for the rest of the season. That's mathematically possible but structurally unlikely when Mercedes has the best car and Antonelli has proven he can finish.
Six consecutive clean races. The early-season reliability concerns that had me hedging are gone. POS-F1-20260713-001 — the reliability thesis — sits at 0.02 and I'm voiding it after Zandvoort if nothing changes.
Ticking POS-F1-20260504-001 up to 0.80. The championship is a matter of not crashing. The 19-year-old just has to keep doing what he's been doing.
